Ragna Fagelund Biograpy


Ragna Fagelund has worked with music since early childhood, an interest that led to studies with the world-famous conductor Sir Colin Davis in London 1997-1999.

Ragna Fagelund has the voice as her instrument. She was educated by Kirsten Taranger at Buskerud Music Conservatory, Norway. Private studies for opera singer Jan Södal, Kari Frisell, Oslo, and opera singer and Court-singer Berit Lindholm, Stockholm, Sweden.
Ragna Fagelund's repertoire consists different styles such as classical music, psalms and jazz.

During 13 years Ragna Fagelund was a teacher at the school of music in Drammen, (Drammens musikskola). Teaching singing and also as a choir conductor for Åssiden Skolekor. The choir-members where from the age of 8-25.
With Åssiden skolekor Ragna Fagelund won several prizes at the Norwegian radio, which also recorded a some concerts with the choir. Åssiden School choir also recorded an Lp with child songs.

Ragna Fagelund has studied orchestra conducting at The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and has conducted different amateur orchestra.

Ragna Fagelund has also conducted professional orchestras as Wiener-sinfonietta and Filharmonien in Budapest.

Autumn 2001 Ragna Fagelund formed Opus Norden. Opus Norden's Symphony Orchestra has already performed at several concerts-halls such as Confidencen, Skansen and The Royal Castle in Stockholm, with soloists like the bassoon player Knut Sönstevold and opera singer, and court singer Birgitta Svenden.

Ragna Fagelund has since 2004, after many years as a conductor, again focused on her voice.

The spring of 2005, Ragna Fagelund devoted to the centennial memory of the Union between Norway and Sweden and music from the two countries during that period. Through Musik i Västernorrland Ragna Fagelund made a consert tour together with Trio Poseidon with Sara Trobäck violin, Claes Gunnarsson, cello and Per Lundberg, piano.

During the Music Festival in Junsele 2005, and on other occations, Ragna Fagelund performed with the pianist Karin Haglund and Atle Sponberg, violinist and consert master of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Rikskringkastingsorkesteret.

Ragna Fagelund performs together with the famous Kjell-Inge Stevensson, clarinet, in a concert program for soprano and clarinet. “The Clarinet in the World of Tales”.

Ragna Fagelund cooperates with the Strindberg Museum, Stockholm, in a program with music composed for works by Strindberg and Ibsen and lectures about these authors.

In 2005 she formed Ragna Fagelund Quartet :
Ragna Fagelund vocals, Jan Sjöblom piano, Lars Burman bass and Jan Franzén drums.

Ragna Fagelund Quartet has performed in Stockholm and London during 2006 and made a CD which will be presented during 2006.
